Evidence That Two Different Plant Viruses Can Multiply Simultaneously in the Same Cell

Abstract
Nicotiana tabacum and N. sylvestris were inoculated with the viruses of tobacco mosaic and tobacco etch, simultaneously or at intervals of 1-4 days. Control plants were inoculated with only 1 virus. Cytological examinations made on the 11th and 40th day after inoculation revealed characteristic inclusion bodies in many cells, and indicated not only that 2 viruses may be present in the same cell but also that multiplication of both could take place.
