Physical Studies on Corneal Tissues

Abstract
Corneal tissue was studied to find some physical property which would measure change during aging to indicate suitability for subsequent successful transplants. Expts. were made with bovine corneas and comprised (1) quantitative light transmission measurements and (2) X-ray diffraction studies. The light transmission data appear to furnish some quantitative measure of viability of corneas during aging; the diffraction patterns furnished no evidence for degree of aging.
