Recording Circadian Rhythms1of the Cockroach with a Capacity-Sensing Device

Abstract
Locomotor activity of a cockroach was monitored without any attachments by means of a capacity-sensing device and recorded over a period of months. The rhythm was circadian under naturally occurring daylight and dark, as well as in complete darkness and in continuous light. The possible use of such monitoring apparatus for the study of the rhythms of insects or other biological organisms in space is suggested.
