Abstract
Standard clearance studies were done on fasting, anesthetized Cebus albifrons. These animals have endogenous serum urate levels of 1.5-3 mg/100 ml and urate clearances which range from 1.4 to 2.4 ml/min per m2. The mean vitamin B12-57Co clearance was 40.0 [plus or minus] 12.4 ml/min per m2, while that for inulin was 35.0 [plus or minus] 12.7 and for creatinine 42.8 [plus or minus] 13.3. Urate clearance was from 3-5% of the vitamin B12-57Co clearance. Infusions of probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, and chlorothiazide given after 3 or 4 control periods produced increases in the urate clearance. Infusions of beta hydroxybutyric acid, sodium lactate, and pyrazinoic acid produced falls in urate clearance. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
