Hydrometrocolpos as a Simply Inherited Malformation

Abstract
Two Amish sibships, each with two girls with hydrometrocolpos, have been identified. Since all four parents can be traced to one ancestral couple, it is suggested that the affected girls are homozygous for a gene which was carried by one member of that couple. In other words, the pedigree is presented as evidence that at least one form of hydrometrocolpos is inherited as a simple autosomal recessive disorder.
