A wide range resistance meter with logarithmic output for continuous measurements over several decades

Abstract
An apparatus for measurement of either very small currents or very large resistances is described. Continuous measurement of resistances over a range of ten decades is possible without manual change of range. It is possible to choose a constant value of bias voltage over the unknown resistance. The apparatus has a logarithmic output for registration with a recorder. This is accomplished with the aid of standard electronic components and commercially available operational amplifiers. The instrument can be used as a resistance, current or voltage meter.
