A Computer for the Evaluation of the Crimp Diameter of Textile Fibers

Abstract
An analog computer has been successfully used to measure the crimp of cotton fibers. Fibers are photographed from two perpendicular planes and the projected photographs are traced with a device which generates a voltage that is fed into the computer. The computer calculates the least-mean-square deviation of each traced curve, and from the readings of two perpendicular projections, the crimp diameter may he calculated.
