Morphology of the Collecting Tubules in Diuretic and Antidiuretic Rats

Abstract
During water and alcohol diuresis the morphology of the collecting tubules of rat kidneys was strikingly different from that seen during antidiuresis and osmotic diuresis. During water diuresis tubular cells were rich in cytoplasm and their borders stained heavily with toluidine blue. During antidiuresis the ceils looked shrunken and gamma metachromasia was reduced. The changes may be related to the presence or absence of antidiuretic hormone.
