Abstract
Thyroidal accumulation of tracer doses of I131 was usually impaired in 21 patients with acute diffuse thyroiditis, although the patients were euthyroid or hyperthyroid. Thyroidal accumulation of I131 was usually normal in 19 patients with chronic thyroiditis, although 5 of the patients with struma lymphomatosa had myxedema. The collection of I131 by the thyroid in these conditions is not a measure of the secretion of thyroid hormone. Keywords
