Abstract
The positive column of a wall stabilised arc burning in pure nitrogen at atmospheric pressure is spectroscopically studied. The behavior of local population number densities of atomic and molecular excited levels shows deviations from CLTE composition. These departures are mainly related to diffusion phenomena and radiation escape. Keywords
