Isotopic Impurity Tunneling in SolidHe4

Abstract
A study has been made of the motion of isotopic impurities in solid He4. The tunneling frequency of He3 atoms with neighboring He4 atoms in the He4 lattice has been deduced from nuclear magnetic relaxation measurements. The volume variation of the He3-He4 tunneling rate is much greater than that of the He3-He3 tunneling rate (exchange).
