Abstract
The x-ray-absorption spectra of O are reported. Good agreement is obtained with a band-structure calculation using the atomic-sphere approximation with an extended basis set. The observation of the white line is an indication of the nonclosed 4d shell of Ag in this compound, although the exciton contribution cannot be ruled out.
