Search for aΛpResonance

Abstract

The energy distribution of $\Lambda \text{'}\mathrm{s}$ coming from $K^{-}$ capture stars at rest has been obtained measuring $\Lambda \text{'}\mathrm{s}$ found by area scanning in photographic emulsion. This distribution is compared to a theoretical one obtained with an optical-model calculation. The conversion process $\left(\Sigma N\right)\to \Lambda p$ plays an importqnt part in the final state of $\Lambda$ production. Our results indicate that the conversion process is dominated by the $\Sigma N$ triplet state and also that there is an enhancement in the $\Lambda p$ invariant-mass plot at about 2110 MeV with $\Gamma \simeq 20$ MeV.
