Weight Discrimination by Octopus

Abstract

1. Blinded octopuses can readily be trained to discriminate by touch between objects differing in texture. 2. They seem unable to discriminate between similar objects differing only in weight. 3. The relevance of this to what is already known about the use of proprioceptive information in learning by Octopus is discussed.
