Abstract
Prochloron contained monogalactosyl diacylglycerol, digalactosyl diacylglycerol, sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and, as a minor component, monoglucosyl diacylglycerol, but no phosphatidylcholine. With respect to the lipid and fatty acid compositions, this alga is similar to the blue-green algae rather than the chloroplasts of eukaryotic plants.
