Abstract
Cholic acid was incubated with S. gelaticus 1164 in a simple synthetic medium. The following compounds were isolated and identified as those methyl esters: 3α, 7α-dihydroxy-12-ketocholanic acid, 7α, 12α-dihydroxy-3-ketocholanic acid, 7α-hydroxy-3, 12-diketocholanic acid, and 3, 12-diketo-Δ4, 6-choladienic acid. The degradative pathway of cholic acid by S. gelaticus 1164 was discussed. Keywords
