Abstract
Substantial multiplication of stromal cells from human embryonic corneas has been obtained in a basal medium MCDB 104 supplemented with 25 ng EGF/ml, 10 .mu.g insulin/ml, 20 .mu.g transferrin/ml, 25 ng MSA/ml, 500 .mu.g ovalbumin/ml, 50 .mu.g LDL/ml, 50 .mu.g HDL/ml and 10-6 M hydrocortisone. Eventhough the growth rate appears to be similar to that in 10% serum, the cells cease proliferating at a lower density.
