Abstract
A first-order phase transition in a Cu double layer on a Mo(110) surface in which the orientation of the interfacial misfit dislocations changes by 90° is reported. The transition shows considerable hysteresis. The analysis of the transition and of an irreversible transition preceding it suggests that the core of the misfit dislocations is partially empty. Keywords
