Abstract
The thermal stability of ribosomes positively correlated with the maximal growth temperatures of the organisms. Although the [denaturation temperature] Tm of ribosomes tended to increase with increasing guanine plus cytosine contentof the rRNA, it was concluded that the thermal stability of the ribosomes was primarily a function of RNA protein interaction. Further, guanine plus cytosine content of the DNA exhibited no apparent correlation to that of the ribosomal RNA.
