Abstract
6α-meth}d-17α-hydroxyprogesterone acetate (6α-MAP) was injected daily to male and female rats from the first postnatal days to maturity. The degree of atrophy and the histological change in the adrenal glands and in the gonads were similar to those reported late after hypophysectomy. The morphological and functional recovery of these glands was extremely slow after the cessation of the injections. The underdeveloped glands, however, reacted promptly to their trophic hormones. The characteristic change in the pituitary was the complete absence of delta cells or gonadotrophs. Keywords
