Abstract
"Marfanil" and certain related compds. containing an aliphatic primary amino group were oxidized under conditions in vitro whereby that action was attributed to amine oxidase. The source of amine oxidase was guinea pig liver homogenates. The O2 taken up during deamination was measured by the Warburg respirometer. Tyramine was rapidly deaminated. All the compounds were oxidized but "Marfanil" had the slowest rate of oxidation. These findings may in part explain the unsatisfactory response to oral or parenteral adm. of "Marfanil" as compared with its topical application. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
