Abstract
Samples of sea-bottom for depths up to 4,742 m. were taken under sterile conditions from points north of Bermuda. All samples contained small numbers of bacteria which produced nitrites in a solution of (NH4)2SO4. This was taken as proof that these bacteria are native inhabitants of the sea-bottom and not contaminations from river waters. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
