Ectopic Gonadotropin Production before Clinical Recognition of Bronchogenic Carcinoma

Abstract
GONADOTROPIN production by lung tumors has previously been found in men with well advanced carcinoma of the bronchus.1 , 2 In the following case the plasma had an increased concentration of gonadotropin when roentgenograms of the chest, bronchoscopic examination and scalene lymph nodes gave no evidence of tumor more than one year before the clinical diagnosis was ultimately established.Case ReportWhile taking isoniazid and para-aminosalicylic acid for pulmonary tuberculosis of the right upper lobe, a 70-year-old cigarette smoker (VAH 227–12–9910, NIH 072262) noticed bilateral gynecomastia.
