A theoretical description of the photon-drag spectrum of p-type germanium

Abstract
The theory of the photon-drag effect, developed originally to account for the temperature dependence of photon drag at 10.6 mu m wavelength, is extended to describe the wavelength dependence at fixed temperature. When applied to p-type germanium, the complexity of the valence-band structure permits only numerical solutions to be obtained, but the main features of the predicted spectrum can be explained physically. Good agreement, without recourse to adjustable parameters, is obtained between the theory and the experimental results described in a previous paper (see ibid., vol.8, p.3137 (1975)).
