The Effect of Temperature on the Frequency of Somatic Crossing-Over in Drosophila Melanogaster

Abstract
The rate of somatic crossing over between X-chromosomes, as measured by the frequency of mosaic spots, is not different at 17[degree] and 25[degree], but significantly lower at 30[degree]. It is pointed out that the occurrence of certain mosaic conditions due to "unstable" or "eversporting" genic loci tends to undergo a similar decrease with rise in temp.
