Abstract
Cromolyn sodium is a unique and effective antiasthmatic agent that has been used widely throughout the world. Its continuous prophylactic use will benefit a large proportion of asthmatic patients. In many it will be most effective when administered with other standard drugs. Cromolyn has no place in the treatment of acute asthmatic attacks. When inhaled orally in therapeutic doses, it appears to have no generalized pharmacologic activity and causes few significant adverse effects.
