The drift of thermal electrons in dense gases

Abstract
The author considers the solution of the Boltzmann equation for the drift velocity of electrons in gases, at high number densities N and low E/N values. The result is shown to coincide with that obtained by a quantum-mechanical Kubo-like approach presented recently. The correction term, with respect to the conventional form, is worked out in detail by means of phaseshift and dispersion relation analyses and discussed in connection with recent investigations.Keywords
