Abstract
Haemoglobin concentration in medically fit Bantu mine workers and in farm workers did not seem to vary with the presence or absence of S. mansoni. and compared favorably with that noted for healthy whites in the same locality. Loss of blood in the stools from infested individuals was so m inor that it would have no effect on normal hemopoiesis and there was no appreciable loss of nutrients or metabolites. Keywords
