Abstract
A volumetric centrifuge method of estimating nectar yield is described and evaluated. The volume of yield is detd. directly from measurements of the height of the centrifugate in a calibrated capillary well attached to the centrifuge tube. Samples of nectar may be easily withdrawn from the capillary tube for refracto-meter analyses. The method, therefore, permits estimates of both volume of nectar and % total sugars. For red clover, a standard centrifugation period of 6 min. at 465 G was found satisfactory. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
