Two New Effective Insect Repellents, NMRI-201 and NMRI-448

Abstract
Two new effective insect repellents, NMRI-201 and NMRI-448 are reported. The former is a mixt. of 70% 2-phenyl cyclohexanol and 30% [beta]-tetralol. The latter compound imparts toxicity to NMRI-201, and primary irritation to the skin of varying degrees was noted following topical application in 6 of 59 human subjects. A substitute for [beta]-tetralol was prepd. A mixture (NMRI-448), consisting of 70% 2-phenyl cyclohexanol and 30% 2-cyclo-hexyl cyclohexanol was even more effective than NMRI-201, and produced no skin irritations.
