ACUTE GLOMERULONEPHRITIS IN AN ADULT WITH LONGSTANDING DIABETES MELLITUS

Abstract
Kimmelstiel and Wilson1 in 1936 first described the nodular lesion found in the glomeruli of patients with diabetes. Their original study was based on autopsy findings and included an evaluation of the associated clinical findings. Since that time, many studies of the clinical syndrome associated with this lesion have been reported. However, percutaneous renal biopsy has made it possible to evaluate the specific relationship between the clinical signs and symptoms and the pathologic lesion studied.
