Amino Acids of Bence-Jones Protein

Abstract
A sample of Bence-Jones protein isolated from the urine of a patient with multiple myelomatosis was analyzed by microbiological assay and paper chromatography. Striking were a very low content of methionine (0.12%) and relatively large amts. of threonine (8.35%), serine (12.61%) and proline (7.10%) and the absence of hydroxyproline. 93% of the N present in the protein was accounted for.
