Lifetime of the0+Excited State inGe70

Abstract
It is found by a delayed-coincidence measurement that part of the 1.04-Mev gamma radiation following the beta decay of Ga70 is delayed with a mean life of τ=(4.0±0.9)×109 sec. This lifetime is assigned to the 0+ level in Ge70 at 1.2 Mev which feeds the 2+ level by a 0.174-Mev E2 transition. The observed mean life is about sixty times shorter than the Weisskopf single-particle estimate for the quadrupole transition.
