No circulating polymorphonuclear leukocytes were seen on peripheral blood smears when Ga-67 citrate studies were carried out for 2 patients. In both of these women, Ga-67 accumulated at the sites of inflammation, which showed that nonpolymorphonuclear pathways were sufficient to deliver Ga-67 and to allow its accumulation. The possible roles of lymphocytes or of noncellular pathways (such as transferrin to tissue lactoferrin) were mentioned.
