Abstract
From 77 9 animals, 10 of high susceptibility (to audiogenic seizures) and 10 of low susceptibility were selected by tests. One month or more after test, 2 ml. of blood were obtained by cardiac puncture and analyzed for blood glucose (Benedict method), serum protein (method of refractive index), and vol. of red cells (method of blood opacity). The only statistically significant differences between the groups were: (a) the susceptible group has higher mean serum protein than the non-susceptible, and (b) the susceptible group showed greater individual differences with respect to blood sugar than did the non-susceptible group. These results are "interpreted tentatively as indicating the abnormality of behavior in the rat is associated with disordered protein metabolism and with defect of the sympatho-adrenal system.".
