Is There a Female Sex Pheromone in the Mosquito Culiseta inornata1 , 2 , 3

Abstract
Static air and air-flow olfactometer results failed to substantiate earlier published reports of a volatile female sex pheromone in the mosquito Culiseta inornata (Williston). Further investigations revealed that after male-female contact, stimuli on female legs are of prime importance in releasing male copulatory behavior. These leg-associated stimuli are rather species-specific, and they disappear slowly after the death of a female.
