The incidence of pets in the home is discussed, and their significance as a health hazard to children is evaluated. A series is reported in which 300 parents of 617 children receiving routine office pediatric care were questioned regarding pets in the home. The results of this survey emphasize the importance of more research to clarify the relationship between animal and human disease.
