Chemical applications of the Mössbauer effect. Part IV. Compounds containing tin–metal bonds

Abstract
Mössbauer spectra have been obtained for a series of organotin compounds in which the tin atom is covalently bonded to another tin or other metal atom. Compounds studied include Ph4Sn, (Ph3Sn)2, (Ph3Sn)2SnPh2, (Ph3Sn)4Sn, (Ph3Sn)4Ge, and (Ph3Sn)4Pb. Despite the absence of a regular tetrahedral environment for the tin atom in most of these compounds, no observable quadrupole effect was detected. This unexpected result is discussed in terms of structures and bonding.
