Abstract
A patient with discoid lupus erythermatosus associated with rheumatoid arthritis is reported. The patient developed aplastic anemia in the third month of the administration of quinacrine and subsequently died as a result of a massive cerebral hemorrhage. Attempts to demonstrate an auto-or quinacrine-induced immune mechanism were unsuccessful. The leterature of quinacrine induced aplastic anemia is reviewed. In the light of this and other reports, cautious hematological surveillance seems indicated in prolonged administration of quinacrine.
