Oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria isolated from tissues of young and old hamsters was investigated polarographically. Efficiency of oxidative phosphorylation was found to be nearly the same in mitochondria isolated from young and old hamsters. However, mitochondria from aged animals appeared to be less stable and more fragile than those from young.
