Abstract
Gary Crow is Associate Professor of Educational Administration at Louisiana State University, USA, where he teaches a course, inter alia, in principalship. In this paper he argues that principalshiP has received considerable attention during educational reform debates yet little attention has been given to the principalship as a career. This paper presents a theoretical framework for investigating principals' careers that justifies career investigations as appropriate endeavours and provides a way to differentiate principals' careers. Keywords
