Abstract
Cross sections for the neutral pion photoproduction from the proton and the neutron are calculated with the C. G. L. N. amplitudes and the phenomenological amplitudes of the s11-, s31-, p33-, p11- and d13-waves at photon energies from 300 MeV to 850 MeV. The angular distributions of the γ+ p →π0 + p reaction around the second resonance are explained under the assumption that the ratio of the amplitudes for the electric dipole and magnetic quadrupole transitions into the final d13-state, E2- and M2-, is about 3 to 1. Cross sections for the coherent photoproduction of neutral pions from the deuteron are also calculated on the basis of the impulse approximation around the second resonance. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data.
