Abstract
The authors report a case of parathyroid adenoma, under their observation for 5 years, which was confused with the syndrome of Burnett. They reviewed the literature and found only 3 cases which conformed to Burnett''s syndrome. Two additional case reports were found corroborating the authors'' experience wherein the symptoms of hyperparathyroidism were confused with Burnett''s syndrome. The pathophysiology of the masking of hyperparathyroidism by renal failure, and the relationship of hyperthyroidism to peptic ulcer are elaborated. Keywords
