Field Populations of Twospotted Spider Mites on Sixteen Cotton Genotypes at Stoneville, MS 197712

Abstract
Sixteen cotton genotypes (different morphological characters) were evaluated in the field for resistance to Tetranychus urticae Koch in plots treated or untreated with insecticides. In the treated plot, the genotypes with the okra-leaf trait had the lowest populations. Three genotypes (LAFR 3159, HG-BR-8 and LA 3382-6-OSN) had the lowest mite populations in both insecticide treated and untreated plots. T. urticae selection of cotton genotypes based on morphological traits may be exploited for future pest management programs and host resistance studies.
