Abstract
This letter describes an approach to the realization of an optically transparent transport network structure called Gridconnect. The proposal is based on the use of multifiber cables and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) to achieve full connectivity simultaneously between all nodes of the network. The structure is an extension of the WDM-Crossconnect solution with star topology to an arrangement with grid topology that has a Crossconnect as a basic structure at each node. Keywords
