Streaming Potential Measurements and the Adhesion of Phosphors on Cathode Ray Screens

Abstract
Streaming potential measurements were carried out to determine the effect of barium acetate on the zeta potentials of phosphor and glass surfaces in the presence of potassium silicate. The results are compared with previous data for sodium sulfate as the addition agent. Although widely different concentrations of the two salts were required to depress the zeta potentials to the same low values, the concentrations corresponded to those which give good adhesion of phosphor to glass. The mechanism of adhesion is discussed.
