Abstract
The kink modes of a cylindrical plasma carrying a uniform current are described in terms of the perturbed currents and fields arising from a helical displacement of the plasma. This description gives the well-known dispersion and stability relations, and illustrates the stabilizing role of feedback magnetic fields. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
