The action of enzymes on chlorophenylalanines

Abstract
The action of amino acid decarboxylases and amino acid oxidases on DL-p-, m- and o-chlorophenylalanine was studied. The mammalian 3,4-dihydroxyphenylaline decarboxylase and the tyrosine decarboxylase of Streptococcus faecalis R did not act on these amino acids; the compounds did not have any marked affinity for the 2 enzymes. All 3 chlorophenylalanines were substrates of the D-amino acid oxidase of pig kidney and of the L-amino acid oxidase of cobra venom.
