Velocity Corrections for Total Scattering Cross Sections

Abstract
Velocity correction factors are given for a quantity κeff≡viQeff , where Qeff is an effective total scattering cross section as measured in a molecular‐beam experiment, and vi is the beam velocity. If κeff is regarded as being measured at the average relative velocity, the correction factors are all near unity and only weakly dependent upon the true velocity dependence of the cross section.
