Receiver design of CDMA system for impulsive radio noise environment

Abstract
This paper investigates the performance of a DS/CDMA system under an impulsive radio noise environment. First, by using the Middleton's (1977) class-A impulsive noise model, we evaluate the performance of conventional DS/CDMA system under impulsive radio noise and it is shown that the performance of the conventional DS/CDMA system is degraded by the effect of impulsive noise. Next, using the dependence between the quadrature components of impulsive radio noise, we propose a receiver designed for impulsive noise and evaluate the performance improvement achieved by this receiver. Moreover, in order to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed receiver for actual impulsive radio noise, we evaluate the performance of the receiver under microwave oven interference. Numerical results conclude that the performance of the DS/CDMA system is much improved by using the proposed receiver.
